Department stores, supermarkets, discount stores and hypermarkets. Although Salling Group today is much more than boxes of cornflakes on shelves, cash registers and good deals, we stick firmly to our roots, so the physical stores remain the core of our business.

We operate today more than 1,500 shops spread out across the Bilka, føtex, Netto and Salling chains, and together with internationally recognised brands, we also operate the Starbucks and Carl's Jr franchise chains. Together, these offer various shopping products and experiences that cater for all customers’ budgets and needs.

Each of out physical stores have a unique concept. Common to them all is that we invest our profits in the shopping experiences that provide value for the customer. By always having an eye for new shopping facilities, events, inspiration, extended opening hours and the continuous improvement of quality, assortment and price, we will maintain our position as the Danes' favourite place to shop in everyday life.

Bilka

Bilka wants to be the preferred shopping universe with a special focus on families.

The first Bilka hypermarket opened in Aarhus in 1970. Today's Bilka is the only hypermarket chain in Denmark, and it comprises a total of 18 hypermarkets spread across the country, including an A-Z-department store that focuses exclusively on non-food products.

At Bilka, you can find everything under one roof. Bilka has Denmark’s largest range in all product categories at the lowest prices, as well as a wealth of exciting shopping experiences – especially for families. Today, Bilka is an event destination with activities all year round, such as concerts, free drive-in cinemas with the latest movies, car boot sales and treasure hunts.

føtex 

føtex has over 100 stores and offers a wide assortment of food, non-food products, and textiles. Hence the name føtex, a contraction of the words foods and textiles. When the first føtex opened in 1960 in Aarhus, the Danes were given a whole new way to shop. This type of supermarket had not seen before, and suddenly customers could buy groceries, butcher’s products, textiles and hardware in one and the same business.

Ever since, føtex has been known as a supermarket with a broad range and high quality. And today, the chain is also known for low prices. In 2017, føtex launched the largest-ever price investment in Danish retailing at a quarter of a billion Danish kroner, and lowered prices on over 2,000 groceries.

Netto 

Netto offers customers high-quality products at low prices. Every day.

In 1981, Netto opened its first discount shop in Copenhagen and also became the first Danish chain of its kind in Denmark. Today, Netto has more than 450 shops spread across the country, thus bringing responsibility and an opportunity to make a difference. For this reason, Netto does a great deal to fight food waste, promote organic products and limit the plastic footprint on the environment.

Netto has over 2,000 products in its assortment, including both famous brand products and its own brands of high quality, at the lowest prices. Furthermore, the shops offer a new and exciting range of spot goods every week.

Since 1990, Netto has been an international retailer, and today it has more than 1,300 shops in Denmark, Sweden, Germany and Poland, and our ambition is to continue to play a significant role internationally by developing our store concept and opening new shops.

Salling 

Salling was originally founded in Aarhus in 1906 and it is one of Denmark's leading department store chains. With key locations in Aarhus and Aalborg, the department stores has become a cultural institution for these cities and their residents, not least because of the spectacular urban roof space, Salling Rooftop, and the many experiences the department stores provide for their guests.

Salling’s department stores stand out today as modern experiences with a wide variety of leading brands in fashion, lifestyle, interior, wellness and food.

As a modern department store, Salling is what we call the place to be. It is the place where you shop with friends, meet over a cup of coffee or get inspired, surprised and entertained.
